Delbert C. Gustafson

1938-2023

Delbert C. Gustafson, 84, of Ogema, was called to his heavenly home on Jan. 13, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Ogema Baptist Church, W5091 Hwy 86, Ogema, WI 54459, with Pastor Rodney Price officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church.

Delbert was born on Jan. 21, 1938, to Eddie and Alice (Erickson) Gustafson, in Ogema. He went to school through his sophomore year and then helped work on the family farm and worked with his dad and brother Leroy in the woods. On his 17th birthday he joined the National Guards.

Delbert married Debra Maki on Nov. 9, 1979. Delbert worked driving milk truck hauling milk cans, driving pulp truck for Kenny Pearson, logging, with his brothers and carpentry. He also worked at Larson’s Sawmill for many years. Going back to carpentry and ending his career building a house in Spirit with the help of his brother, John, and son, Dan.

Delbert enjoyed riding motorcycle, racing, trips to Canada fishing, camping with friends and family, taking nieces and nephews on family trips to the Dells and local fairs, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and watching the birds, and the one thing he enjoyed doing the most - being a loving and caring husband to Debbie.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; children, Dan (Katie) of Prentice, and Dawn (Wayne) Korenuk of Medford; grandchildren, Stacey, Alexandra, Zoe; sister, Kathleen (Mel) of Cudahy; brother, John (Deanny) of Ogema; and other loved family members and friends.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Alice; and siblings, Leroy, Melba, and Harold.
