Darrell Treankler Darrell Treankler

Darrell “Pete” Treankler went home with his Lord at the age of 86 at the House of the Dove on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

A funeral service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7735 Yellowstone Drive, Hewitt, on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dean Pingel and Reverend Mark Krueger presiding. Burial immediately followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Borchardt, Mark Bell, Steve Treankler, Mark Kilty, Glen Meidl and Mark Meyers. Military honors were performed by American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield. Visitation for family and friends was from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Pete was born on March 13, 1936, at home to Lloyd “Tilly” and Helen (VanDreel) Treankler.

He attended Lindeburg School thru the eighth grade, going on to graduate from Stratford High School in 1954.

In 1955, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country until June 1959. Pete started his career as a purchasing agent at Northern Auto in Marshfield in July 1959, retiring in 1998.

On October 7, 1961, he married Beverly Weichelt, and they later divorced. He was an avid sports fan, following his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs, watching them win a World Series in 2016. He also liked to watch the Brewers and the Packers. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball for Spindler’s Bar and bowling in the Uptown Bowling league, of which he was the secretary for over 20 years.

Nothing brought him more joy than attending polka dances on Sunday afternoons and, of course, attending to his many flocks of chickens over the years.

Pete was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt, since 1960, serving as an elder and financial steward for many years.

Pete is survived by two daughters: Connie (Jerry) Pretsch and grandchildren Jordan and Evan, and Renee “Sceeter” (Joannie Wittberlier) Treankler; sister Kathy (David) Honeywell and sister-in-law Judy Treankler, and several nieces and nephews and special confidant, Amy “Otis” Oday, who was always willing to listen whenever Pete had something to say when the girls wouldn’t listen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mary Ellen White, Donna Mae Kilty, Barbara Bandow, Richard Treankler and David Treankler (infancy).

The family would like to thank the staff at the House of Dove in Marshfield for the wonderful care that was given to Pete during this difficult time. They made him feel very special.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
