Jolanta Jagodzinski
Jolanta “Jo” T. Jagodzinski, age 90, of Edgar, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, in the “Comfort Care Unit” at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar, with Rev. Alan Wierzba presiding. She was laid to rest in the parish cemetery. Family and friends were invited to gather at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
She was born on February 21, 1932, in Cassel, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Helen (nee Gajewski) Szuminski. She graduated from Marathon High School. After high school, she went on to work in admittance at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau. On July 23, 1952, Jolanta married Frank L. Jagodzinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cassel. She was a hard-working farmer’s wife, gardener, mother and grandmother.
Jo was a lifelong member of the former St. Rose Group (PCCW) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar. In her earlier years, she sang in the church choir, and was a 4-H project leader of the “Explorers” group of 9 and 10-year-olds. For a period of time, she was employed at Badger Basket in Edgar. Jo enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards and celebrate birthdays.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Frank Jagodzinski; her daughter, Sharon (Randy) Ross; her grandson, Ryan (Michelle) Ross; her great-grandchildren: Marcus and Caliana Ross; her sister-in-law, Gloria (Sylvian) Szuminski; her nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Szuminski; her son, Gerald; one sister, four brothers and three sisters-in-law.
A “Big Thank You” to all of the caregivers that came to the house and those at Marshfield Comfort Care. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Thomas G. Stoffel for the care he gave Jo over the many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jolanta’s name can be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Edgar.
