Alma W. Schoenfuss, 98, Stratford, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Country Terrace/Vita Care in Stratford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford. Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan will preside. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Neal Potts, Greg Potts, Alan Wiesman, Randy Wiese, Jim Wiesman, Eric Schoenfuss, Dustin Schoenfuss and Caleb Specht.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Sauter/ Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10 a.m. until service time at church on Thursday. A Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service was held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Alma was born on October 13, 1923, in the Town of Cleveland to Anton and Hattie (Jansen) VanDerLeest. She married J. Laverne Schoenfuss on May 15, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. He passed away on April 5, 2005.

Alma farmed for 40 years, worked at Davel’s and cooked for Father Rudolph. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, sewing, embroidering, cross stitching, gardening, cooking, baking, making Wheaties cookies, canning, tie quilting, doing puzzles, playing cards and writing to pen pals. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club.

She is survived by her children: Eunice (Gary) Potts of Marshfield, Eugene (Sandy) Schoenfuss of Chetek, Diane (Jerry) Keding of Stratford, Donna Wiese of Stratford, Nancy (Larry) Wiesman of Stratford, Richard (Carol) Schoenfuss of Stratford and Annette (Mark) Specht of Marshfield.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Neal (Brenda) Potts of Marshfield, Greg (Brenda) Potts of Freedom, Karla (Pete) Potts-Shufelt of Cameron, Kristin Schoenfuss of Chetek, Dustin (Rachel) Schoenfuss of Chetek, Lynn (Mike) Schmidt of Edgar, Randy (Andrea) Wiese of Stratford, Calli (Jake) Stueber of Stratford, Alan (Wendy) Wiesman of Stratford, Jim (Cory) Wiesman of Stratford, Eric Schoenfuss (Megan) of Edgar, Amanda Schoenfuss of Rothchild, Erin Schoenfuss of Rothchild, Samantha Schoenfuss (Tom) of Arpin, Hannah Schoenfuss of Stratford, Caleb Specht of Marshfield and Nichole Specht (Will) of Marshfield; step-granddaughter, Ashley (Andrew) Keding-Murdaugh of Marshfield; and great-grandchildren: Adam and Michelle Potts of Marshfield, Rachel Potts of Freedom, James Shufelt, Brady and Tucker Gronski of Cameron, Megan and Derek Wiese of Stratford, Maggie and Abby Schmidt of Stratford, Henry and Laura Stueber of Stratford and Allison, Hailey, Jenna, Cooper and Brynn Wiesman of Stratford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Hattie VanDerLeest, husband, J. Laverne Schoenfuss, step-grandson, Brian Keding, and many siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
