Dorothy Becker
Dorothy E. Becker, 96, Loyal, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Abbotsford Health Care Center in Abbotsford. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. John Catholic Church in Rubicon. Rev. Britto Suresh will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dorothy’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Loyal, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Friday at St. John Catholic Church, in Rubicon, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Dorothy Ellen Becker was born on Dec. 25, 1925 in Fond du Lac to John F. and Isabelle J. (Strobel) Hesprich. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at St. Mary Catholic School and graduated from Lomira High School in 1943. After high school, Dorothy attended La Salle Extension University of Chicago, Ill., where she received a degree in accounting. She was united in marriage to Clarence J. Becker, Sr. on Jan. 8, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lomira. She farmed with her husband near Rubicon and worked as an accountant. In 1971, they moved to Loyal and farmed until 1976. Dorothy and her husband then had their own assessing business. She was the secretary from 1976 to 1984, and then was a certified assessor from 1984 to 1999.
Dorothy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its PCCW, was a member of Loyal Senior Citizens, where she served as the treasurer for many years, and previously served on the Clark County Aging and Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee for several years.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, and playing cards and games with her family and friends.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her seven children: Paul (Amy) Becker of Unity, Norman (Nancy) Becker of Colby, Mary (Jim) Detweiler of Williamsburg, Iowa, David (Esther) Becker of Wisconsin Rapids, Clarence Jr. (Carrie) Becker of Greenwood, John (Jenny) Becker of Greenwood; one step-daughter: Louise (Norbert) Feucht of Mayville; her daughter-in-law: Pat Becker of Sheboygan; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister: Louise Held of Rubicon; one brother: Anthony Hesprich of Lomira; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Becker, Sr on March 28, 2002; one son: Allen Becker; one step-son: Steven Becker; two brothers: Raymond and Francis Hesprich; and four sisters: Rita Grusnick, Catherine Hemmrich, Joan Krofta and Germaine Brennan.
