Jacalyn Bauer
Former Abbotsford resident Jacalyn “Jackie” M. Bauer passed away on October 20, 2021, unexpectedly in Phoenix, Ariz.
A mass was held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Phoenix, where she was a member, on November 17, 2021.
Jackie was a born on October 9, 1951, to Leonard and Elaine (Vesely) Bauer in Wausau. She spent her early life in Abbotsford on the family farm in the Town of Mayville and graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1969.
She spent much of her working career in Marshfield at St. Joseph’s Hospital as an EKG technician for 13 years. Her work schedule allowed her to do the one thing she enjoyed more than anything else; spending her every other week off fishing with her dad, up north, on the Willow Flowage.
In January of 1987, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and, oddly enough, took a job with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix where she worked for 33 years, retiring in 2019. “Once a Packer fan, always a Parker fan”, but she was a huge fan of the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns and, especially, the Arizona Diamondbacks, where she held season tickets for many years.
Jackie loved her family, friends, co-workers and enjoyed her independence. She enjoyed traveling which included several trips to Australia to visit Nikki Pope Spackman and her family, who became part of the Bauer family in 1981 as a foreign exchange student at Abbotsford High School. Jackie also traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain, Hawaii and several states in the U.S. She is survived by her mother, Elaine; her brother, Joseph Bauer of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters: Michelle (David) Strathmann of Colby and Elizabeth (David) Anderson of Bulverde, Texas; nieces and nephews include Christine (Dean) Olsen, Minneapolis, Minn., Gregory (Michelle) Bauer, St. Paul, Minn., Kimberly (Nick) Hanson, Colby, Ryan (Amber) Czarnezki, Medford, Adrienne (Zak) Jorski, Hawaii, Joseph Bauer II, Abbotsford, Nicholas Anderson, Phoenix, Ariz., Melissa (Dan) Holtzhausen, Colby, Lynette Strathmann (Josh Williams), Stratford, and Nadine (Adam) Molitor, Abbotsford; eight great-nephews and nine greatnieces, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Bauer; her grandparents, Leo and Helen Bauer and Joseph and Barbara Vesely; her aunts: Marie Lofland, Lorena Sterzinger, Loretta Bauer, Hilda Gesualdo, Doloris Bauer and Nan Vesely, and her uncles: Albert Bauer, Joseph Vesely, Norbert Stahnke, Don Lofland, Frank Gesualdo and Randall Sterzinger.
There will be a graveside service at the Abbotsford Cemetery on Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life gathering at Red Arrow Park in Abbotsford immediately following.
All are welcome.
