Agnes “Aggie” Clara Pernsteiner, 91, of Medford, passed away Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2022 at Our House Assisted Living in Medford. A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m., Saturday at the church.

Aggie was born Aug. 3, 1930 in the town of Deer Creek to Bernadine (Danen) and William Cypher. She attended Spruce Grove Grade School and graduated from Medford High School, class of 1948.

Aggie worked at Taylor County Electric Cooperative until her marriage to Lawrence Pernsteiner on Aug. 13, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. They lived on a small farm in the town of Little Black. Once their children started school, Aggie went to work alongside her husband at Industrial Credit Union which later became Peoples Choice Credit Union. After retiring from the credit union, she worked part time at the Taylor County Register of Deeds office in the courthouse.

Aggie and Lawrence enjoyed spending free time at their summer home on Pier Lake along with curling, snowmobiling, fishing and playing cards. Aggie enjoyed many crafts including crocheting, embroidery,

cross stitch, making yarn covered hangers and stained glass. Taking photos and creating albums of her family was one of her favorite pastimes.

Aggie was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and their women’s group. She was also a member of the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. She also volunteered her time working at elections, and at Taylor County Memorial Hospital, now Aspirus Hospital in Medford.

She is survived by three children, Sandra Halada of Ladysmith, Mary (Rick) Smith of Tomah, Nancy (Al) Higgins of Medford; eight grandchildren, Carrie Hruby, Katie (Leif) Tolokken, Thomas (Amber) Halada, Becky (Joel) Rech, Travis (Sarah) Smith, Heather (Kevin) Ristow, Megan (Shawn) Zimmerlee, and Jessie (Mike) Tomasko-Nintzel; seven greatgrandchildren, Elsie and Aspen Hruby, Therin and Kya Smith, Max Tomasko, Evan and Hank Ristow; sister, Jeanette Adams; in-laws, Marcella Cypher, Marilyn Cypher, Carol Cypher, Kathy Pernsteiner, Darla Pernsteiner, Kathy (Frank) Luterbach, Gerald (Lynette) Pernsteiner, Alice Pernsteiner, Bob (Jill) Pernsteiner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence on Mar. 1, 2013; son, Norbert; son-inlaw, Mark Halada; brothers, Edward (Joyce), Jerome (Helen), Raymond, Kenneth, James, Norbert and David Cypher; brothers-in-law, Jerry Adams, and Sy, Ralph, and Willard Pernsteiner.

Memorials are appreciated and may go to Hope Hospice, or Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School.
