Wilbur E. Buse, 89, Spencer, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at his residence, with family gathered at his bedside. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 14, at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Kevin Hoogland officiating. Committal services will follow in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Michael Buse, Dustin Buse, Kevin Althoff, Kyle Marquardt, and Keith Louis Buse.

Wilbur was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Clark County, the son of Emil and Esther (nee Rusch) Buse. He graduated from Spencer High School. On June 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Delores Hendrickson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage. Wilbur worked as a design engineer for Trail Blazer Company in Spencer, later becoming self-employed in carpentry until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. Wilbur enjoyed going camping with his family as well as fishing, hunting, and gardening. His children will remember Dad for always being there to help with home and cabin building projects and remodeling them, as well. They remember Dad for so much, even his great love for a cookie or two and maybe some Snickers, Milky Ways, or Hershey Kisses.

He is survived by his children: Gary (Deborah) Buse of North Carolina, Nancy (Bill) Althoff of Cannon Falls, Minn., David (Dawn) Buse of Spencer, Keith (DeAnn) Buse of Spencer, Kevin (Jackie) Buse of Rosholt, and Joan (Scott) Johnson of Seymour; his grandchildren: Michael Buse, Kevin (Jessica) Althoff, Dustin (Deanna) Buse, Derek (Nicki) Buse, Keith Louis Buse, Stephanie (TJ) Smotherman, Kyle (McKenzie) Marquardt, Adam Marquardt, and Carson Johnson; his great-grandchildren: Brook Smotherman, Belle Smotherman, Owen Buse, Sylvia Buse, Ella Buse, Maverick Marquardt, Judd Althoff, and two additional great-grandchildren to arrive soon; his sister, Audrey Sautner; his sister-in-law, Karen (Ronald) Seefeldt; and many other relatives and friends.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Esther Buse; his loving wife, Delores; and three sisters: Isabelle Bruesewitz, Bernice Kuehmichel, and Rhoda Pengelly.

The family would like to send a special “thank you” to the staff at Compassus Hospice for their dedicated care given to their father.
