Paul Kabus
Paul C. Kabus, 83, Willard, passed away at his home on Monday, April 25, 2022, with his family at his side. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 4, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Rev. Leo Johnson officiated, and burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Paul’s grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Paul Clarence Kabus was born on Oct. 15, 1938, in Independence, the son of Peter N. and Sophia S. (nee Kupka) Kabus. He was raised and received his education in Independence, graduating from Independence High School in 1957. After completing his education, Paul went to work at American Motors/Daimler Chrysler in Kenosha. He was united in marriage to Mary M. Marsolek on Jan. 28, 1961, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence. Paul was employed as a forklift operator at American Motors until retiring on April 1, 1989. In 1990, they purchased a hobby farm in the town of Seif, rural Willard, and he resided there until his death. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha for 30 years, United Auto Workers Local 72, the 40-Year Club in Kenosha, and the Corner Club 4-Wheeling Club. Paul had many interests, but especially loved being outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, and anything to do with horses.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Mary, of Willard; his children: Joe (Kris) Kabus of Fountain City, Dennis (Janelle Davis) Kabus of Gilmanton, and Sandy (Bryan) Tamke of Arcadia; six grandchildren: Paul (Catherine) Kabus, Carrie Doelle, Logan Kabus, Kyle (Jordan Lien) Tamke, Riley Davis, and Marissa (Kyle) Waltemath; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Theresa Fink of Prescott, Ariz., and Angie Mish of Hampshire, Ill.; one brother: Allie (Bonnie) Kabus of Independence; one sister-in-law: Dorothy (David) Bauer of Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter: Sophie Dawn Kabus; one brother: Clarence (Lucieda) Kabus; one sister-in-law: Clara (Jerry) Slabik; and three brothers-in-law: Clifford Fink, Bernard Mish, and Frank Marsolek.
