Mark Alan Potaczek, 54, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022 at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass for Mark will take place at noon on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at noon. The service will be streamed live on the Holy Rosary Parish Facebook page. A luncheon will follow at Holy Rosary Social Hall. Family and friends of Mark are invited to gather thereafter at Mark’s shop for a celebration of his life at N4456 State Hwy. 13, north of Medford.

Mark was born on Dec. 10, 1967 to Julius and Sophie (Pogodzinski) Potaczek in Marshfield. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, Medford Middle School, and graduated from Medford Area Senior High in 1986. After high school, Mark dedicated his life to the family business, Potaczek Scrap Processing, Inc. in Medford. In 2019, he pursued his dream as a semi-truck owner-operator working with Badger State Western Inc. of Abbotsford.

Mark cherished his time seeing the country in his semi-truck with his dog, Tracker. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, grill, and spend time outdoors in the sun. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and snowmobile and hosting 4th of July parties. He was a friend and father-figure to everyone who needed one and will be missed by many.

Mark is survived by his siblings, Elaine (Ken) Christensen of Abbotsford, Kathi (Tom) Seidl of Medford, Judy (Pat) Henrichs of Stetsonville, Laura (Bomber Heier) Potaczek-Heier of Perkinstown, Pat (Jenny Wagner) Potaczek of Ogema, Jane (Luke) Brunner of Medford, and Dr. Karen (Shannon Kunert) Potaczek of West Okoboji, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Brian Christensen, Scott Christensen, Kelly (Miah) Buchholtz, Michelle (Adam) Resnick, Eric (Rhonda) Seidl, Sarah (Tom) Lovlien, Brad Seidl, Ryan (Sara Johnson) Seidl, Kimberly (Jerry) Larson, Sheila Henrichs, Paul (Sadie) Henrichs, Rachel (Dylan) Hodowanic, Rebecca (Raphael Sanchez) Heier, Wyatt Heier, RaeAnne Heier, and Brody, Benjamin, Sophia, and Ilsa Brunner; and many great-nieces and nephews; fiancée, Karen Weatherford of Medford and her children, Samantha (Nick, grandson Jordan) Becker of Osceola and Jonathan Weatherford of Medford. Mark is also survived by his fur babies, Archie, Tracker, and Lambeau.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Julius in 1990 and Sophie in 2002; and brother, Kevin in 1991.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mark’s name may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
