Dorothy R. Weyer, 95, Loyal, died on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at her home in Loyal, 10 days short of her 96th birthday, with family members at her side. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Leo Johnson officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Robert Weyer, Brandon Herr, Matt Weyer, Ben Dahlby, Derek Weyer, Jacob Puent, Jason Weyer and Kyle Weyer.

Dorothy Rosalie Walter was born on Feb. 24, 1926, in Heintown (town of York) to Joseph and Margaret (nee Hauser) Walter. She attended the Ross School and St. Anthony Catholic School. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1943. She was married to Robert Weyer on May 8, 1945, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They raised 11 children on their dairy farm in the town of Loyal. After selling the farm, she worked at Figi’s in Marshfield and then as a cook at Loyal High School. She loved playing cribbage, sheepshead, and canasta. She taught herself crocheting and many of her doilies found their way into the homes of family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was especially famous for her potato salad and cookies. She loved to have her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit her home. They all knew where she kept the toys and the candy bowl. In her younger years she bowled and played golf. Dorothy was an avid sports fan following her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren religiously. She was a scout leader, and a member of St. Anthony’s PCCW and choir for many years.

Dorothy is survived by 10 children: Edward (Dianne) Weyer of Fayetteville, Ga., Barbara Simonson of Marshfield, James (Deborah) Weyer of Chili, Joseph (Mary) Weyer of Loyal, Raymond (Bonnie) Weyer of Loyal, Susan (Dennis) Buehler of Marshfield, Patrick (Barb) Weyer of Tony, Karen Holland of Venice, Fla., Terrance (Shirley) Weyer of Loyal, and Cynthia Puent of Marshfield; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Margaret Krebs of West Bend, Anne (Jack) Wiczynski of West Bend, Theresa Lentz of Muskego, and Clara (Ray) Scharpf of Marshfield; and her brother, John (Kay) Walter of Almond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Weyer; a daughter, Jane Herr; her sisters: Mary (Mike) Weyer and Eleanor (Lyle) Berge; and her brother, Franklin (Marie) Walter.

The family requests donations be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or St. Anthony Catholic School, Loyal.

The family would like to thank the providers and staff at Marshfield Clinic Health System for their compassion and care over the years, including Dr. Allyson Mayeux and the Heart Failure Improvement Clinic, as well as her hospice caregivers at Compassus.
