Shirley A. Haizel

1938-2022

Shirley A. Haizel, 83 of Holcombe, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, due to complications of pneumonia.

At Shirley’s request no services will be held. She was born on May 5, 1938 to Oscar and Grace (Yoder) Peterson in Knapp. She moved to the Gilman area where she attended school, she then moved to the Chicago area where she worked. It was there that she met her husband Bernard Haizel, they were married on March 3, 1956 in Gilman.

They purchased the family farm in Withee. She worked at Weather Shield for many years. In later years they moved to Holcombe where Shirley enjoyed snowmobiling, quilting, crocheting, her flower garden, garage sales and her Green Bay Packers.

Shirley is survived by four children Rickie Haizel of Holcombe, Bernadine (Rick) Clarkson of Withee, Marlene (Norman) Lavin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roger (Sara) Haizel of Withee; also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Peterson of Dorchester; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie in 2002; parents, Oscar and Grace Peterson; step-father James Welch; two sisters, Kathleen of San Bernardino, Calif. and Francis Glebke of Gilman; sister-in-law, Ruth Peterson; and brother-inlaw Earl Glebke.
