Adeline Gauerke

Adeline M. Gauerke, 91, Athens passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022.

She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Nicholas and Mathilda (Luedtke) Rausch. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Enos Gauerke in Athens. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1997.

For many years Adeline was a homemaker and also farmed alongside her husband Enos in the town of Halsey. She enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Ann Milka of Colorado and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence (Betty Mae) Rausch; a sister, Marcella (Joseph) Bergs; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Milka.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. George Graham presided. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
