Debra Kayhart
Debra Jean Kayhart, 65, Granton, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Lynn Cemetery, Town of Lynn (Granton).
Debbie was born on Aug. 28, 1956, to Forest and Jeanette (nee Venzke) Foemmel. She shared her birthday with her dad, something she cherished so much. She was raised on her family’s farm near Chili, attended grade school at East Fremont, and graduated from Marshfield Senior High. After high school she worked at Berg Equipment as a secretary. On July 12, 1975, Debbie married the love of her life, Lyle Kayhart, one year after their first date watching the Marshfield fireworks. Debbie’s dream was to be a wife and a stay-at-home mom. She fulfilled that dream making sure her boys grew up knowing and loving Jesus. She loved her “job”. Lyle and Debbie raised three boys together on their farm near Granton. Debbie truly loved Jesus and shared her testimony through her words and her actions. Her home was always open to anyone who stopped by and she always had coffee and goodies to share. Debbie has a plaque hanging in her kitchen that reads “Faith, Family, Farming, and Friends.” That was how she prioritized her life. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Marshfield. She loved singing worship songs and hymns. Some of her favorites included “Victory in Jesus”, “I Come to the Garden”, and “The Sweet By and By”. She had many favorite Bible verses. A few that were very dear to her are Psalm 27: 13-14: “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”; Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”; Luke 1:37: “For nothing is impossible with God.”; and Psalm 62:1-2: “My soul finds rest in God alone: my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Besides Jesus, her greatest joy was her grandkids. She loved being a grandma. Making sure each one of them knew Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior became her purpose in life. She held five-day club at her house for a number of years for her grandkids and neighboring children. The last couple of years she put on a cousins’ camp with fishing, tea parties, and crafts. Debbie made sure each of her grandchildren knew they were her favorite, because she would tell each of them that they were. Not only was she a grandma to her 11 biological grandchildren, but any child who wanted to call her Grandma was welcome too.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lyle; her children: Ben (Jordon) of Granton, Paul (Jessica) of Loyal, and Mark (Julie) of Granton; her grandchildren: Micah, Leah, Anna, Chloe, Peter, Josiah, Phillip, Hannah, Andrew, Lyla, and Jonah; her siblings: Dan (Rhonda) Foemmel of Chili, Kathy (Dennis) Thome of Kansas, and Tim (Beth) Foemmel of Chili; her aunt, Violet Korth of Cambridge; her uncle, David (Wanda) Venzke of Lindsey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family.
