Arthur George Komanec
1942-2021
Arthur George Komanec, 79, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 in Clark Fork, Idaho. There will be a celebration of his life in July 2022 in Clark Fork, Idaho after which, he will make his final road trip to Wisconsin to be buried in the Hannibal Cemetery next to his mother and step father Eleanor and Henry Harp. Art was born on July 14, 1942 in Hannibal to Paul and Eleanor Komanec. After his schooling in Hannibal, Art went to work farming.
Art married Ellen Granquist on Nov. 30, 1963 in Hannibal. They moved to western Montana to work in the logging industry, and eventually settled in Trout Creek, Mont. Art was divorced in 1981 and moved to Clark Fork to be closer to family. There he drove heavy equipment and owned a dump truck.
He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing and boating on Lake Pend Oreille. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Lucy of Clark Fork, Idaho and Sandra Birkenholz of Gilman; two grandsons, Casey (Sunni) Nelson of Noxon, Mont. and Brandon Birkenholz of Eau Claire; one great-grandson, Conner Nelson; two sisters, Shirley Gross of Thompson Falls, Mont. and Carol (Terry) Chowning of Clark Fork, Idaho; four brothers, Gabe (Kari) Komanec of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, James (Betty) Harp of Hannibal, Bill Harp of Clark Fork, Idaho and Patrick Komanec of Gilman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frances Komanec and Eleanor and Henry Harp; brother, Paul Komanec, Jr.; and two great-grandsons, Paxton and Liam Nelson.
