Marie Sossaman
Marie (Blondie) Anderson Sossaman passed away at The Fountain nursing home in Yuba City, Calif., on Nov. 27, 2021, after a battle with cancer.
Marie was born on Jan. 11, 1931, in Colby to John (Swede) and Erma Anderson. She married James Wilde in 1950. In 1962, when her sister, Beverly, passed away, they took a big step raising Beverly and Claude “Corky” Sossaman’s children for several years. She always referred to Audrey, Dennis (Butch) and Rick as her kids. Jim and Blondie later divorced. She then married Herman Sossaman, Corky’s brother, Aug. 1, 1974, and moved to Brownsville, Calif. Herman preceeded her in death in Oct. 2009.
Blondie was a linotype operator for many years with the Colby Tribune paper and then later had a restaurant in the old Dairy Bar in Colby.
She will be greatly missed by her “kids”: niece, Audrey (James) Hopfensperger of Unity; nephews: Dennis (Butch Sossaman) of Unity and Rick (Sue) Sossaman of Abbotsford. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Julie (Steve) Anderson of Riverdale, Calif.; sister, Kathy Kauffman; sistersin- law, Wilma (Ralph) Sossaman and Dixie (Ken) Ingersol; and many other nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by her many friends in California, including Robin and Tony Murphy, who have helped her and her kids very much in their many years of friendship.
Treasure family members that passed before her are brothers: Pete Anderson and Robert Anderson; sisters: Ida (Donald) Rosenlof and Beverly (Corky) Sossaman.
Burial will follow cremation in Brownsville, Calif., where she will be put to rest by Herman and a memorial will be at a later date in Brownsville, Calif.
