Helen Ahlers, 100, formerly of Jump River, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021 at the Onalaska Care Center. A funeral service will be at noon, on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheldon with Rev. Steve Newberg officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the Church.

Helen Louise Schuppel was born at the family home near West Bend, Wis. to the late John and Marie (Kirchner) Schuppel. She grew up there and graduated from West Bend High School. Helen married Edwin Ahlers on Jan. 9, 1943 in Lincoln, Neb. The couple settled near Jump River in 1948 and farmed for many years.

Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 73 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafts, camping and traveling; but most of all spending time with her family. Helen had a kind personality and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Donna Cukla) Ahlers of Jump River, Bonnie (Wayne) Oliver of Onalaska, Gayle (Dennis) Wald of Wausau and Timothy (Sadie) Ahlers of Ogema; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 4 greatgreat- grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Justman of Kewaskum and Alice Furlong of Campbellsport as well as her sister-in-law, Pat Kolpack of Thorp. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin (1996); her parents; son, Joel Edwin; son, Thomas Edwin in infancy; a daughter, Lynn Marie in infancy; a granddaughter, Shanna; and her brothers, John, Myron and Donald Schuppel.
