Michael “Minnows” C. Danen, 74, of Little Black, passed away on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 at Aspirus A Memorial Mass for Michael will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Stetsonville, with Father Michael Hayden officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Stetsonville, on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Michael was born on Nov. 30, 1946 to Clarence and Elsie (Schaefer) Danen in Mayville. He received his education in the Medford school system and graduated from Medford High School in 1964. He married Kathy Johnson on April 28, 2000; she preceded him in death on January 22, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Stetsonville.

Michael worked for Handel Evergreen Farm and Handel Motor for 25 years. He started working for the Village of Stetsonville on May 1, 1989 as the Director of Public Works and Wastewater Operator until his retirement in January of 2009. He joined the Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Department in 1973 and was elected chief in 1981 until 2017.

Michael was a lifetime member of the Wisconsin State Fire Chief and Wisconsin Wastewater Operator Association. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Order of Catholic Foresters. He was a past member of Wisconsin State Firefighter Association and International Association of Arson Investigation Wisconsin Chapter 1983.

Michael is survived by his step-daughter, Megan Dassow of Dorchester; grandchildren, Landon Graap and Ayden Lindeman; sister, Arlene Handel of Medford; and sister-in-law, Aggie Danen of Dorchester. Michael is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Danen; and sister, Delores Henrichs.
