Loyal Legion Auxiliary holds meetings
The August meeting of the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary included the reading of a letter from the new Auxiliary President, Diane Wiggins, who joined in 1983. Her theme is “Salute, Serve, and Celebrate Veterans in the military, their families and in our communities.”
Goals: Working together as an American family. Building relationships, engaging members and caring for those who care for others. Special project is the Chippewa Falls Veteran Courtyard. It would enhance the quality of life for members by providing an outdoor lighted area with seating and tables, including electrical outlets and a sound system for visiting group activities, programs and happy hour. The area will be big enough for 38 wheelchairs at tables along with seating for families and caregivers. The courtyard will expand opportunities for many. The Poppy funds may be used to help fund this. Poppy donation in 1946 distributed 24 million poppies. Currently only 3.1 million.
