Hunter Jo Ried, 20, of Medford, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
better. However, the one thing he never complained about was his mom’s cookies – those were always his favorite! While working, he developed a great work ethic and learned a lot. He was currently employed at Walmart.
Hunter loved all things outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, bow hunting, shooting squirrels, and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed going out to eat, going out for ice cream; and hanging out with his best friend Tucker. He and his mom had fun going to the movies, which was their special thing to do together.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Tammy Erl (Terry Emmerich) of Medford; father, Randy Ried of Medford; sister, Paige Ogle of Rib Lake; niece and nephew, Calyn and Harold; step-brother, Ian Emmerich of Medford; grandparents, Sharon (Clarence) Ludwig of Medford, Carla (Lee) Ried of Medford, and John (Barbara) Erl of Oconomowoc; aunts and uncles, Theresa Thorgerson of Chippewa Falls, Sherry (Mark) Born of Medford, Tyler Ludwig of Medford; his pets: cats, Izzy and Fuzzball, dog, Speedway, and his fish; his hunting buddies, The Tequila Buck Hunting Crew; as well as many friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jed Thorgerson.
Memorials in Hunter’s name are appreciated and will go towards a special bench and tree near his favorite fishing spot at Miller Dam.

A memorial service with a time of sharing will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 29 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. Please bring your favorite memory or photo of Hunter to share during the service. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at his favorite fishing spot. Friends and family will be notified by Hunter’s family.
He was born Aug. 13, 2001 in Medford to Tammy Erl and Randy Ried. He graduated from Medford High School in 2020. He was about to enter his second year at North Central Tech. College this fall where he was studying welding.
During high school, Hunter worked at the Turtle Club, where he became the best fish fryer! From then on, no fish fry was good enough so he took it upon himself to be the fry cook at family gatherings and became quite talented. Now being a culinary expert, he enjoyed picking on his mom for her cooking, so again, he would add spices to make her food taste
