local airstrip, hoping to catch a plane ride. He eventually earned his private pilot license in the 1960’s and helped to form the Mink Capitol Flying Club at the Taylor County Airport. Kitty and Armin moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1975 where he worked in cabinet building at Precision Pattern until retiring in 1991.

In Wichita, Kan., Armin continued his flying hobby and meeting new aviation friends – after all, they had landed in the Air Capital City. When his cockpit time was over Armin took up building and flying RC model planes and belonged to the West Wichita RC Association. In retirement, Armin and Kitty enjoyed auto and train trips to visit family, baseball games, walking, biking and spending time with their grandchildren. Armin moved to Reflection Ridge in 2017 and continued his “hangar flying” at the dining tables with a new set of aviation pals.

Surviving Armin are his children, Tom (Margie) Lindow, Madison, Janet Callear, Naples, Fla., and Gary (Monette) Lindow, Wichita, Kan. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cameron (Steven) Stone, Sayre Lindow, David (Katherine) Lindow and Amy Callear; great grandchildren, Raygen and Charlie; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Armin was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rita Mickelson.

Armin Lindow, 94, of Wichita, Kan. passed away at his home at Reflection Ridge on April 22, 2021. He was under the care of Home Health and Hospice of Kansas for a short time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Armin was born Feb. 23, 1927 in Medford, to Arnold G. Lindow and Lydia Ann Mischler. In school he played cornet in the band and hockey on the outdoor rink. Upon graduating from Medford High School in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received his training at Kessler Field, Miss, and Buckley Field, Colo. before serving in occupied Germany until his discharge in Nov. 1946. After working for a year with a crop sprayer in western Kansas, he enrolled at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., receiving his certification in airline mechanics in Jan. 1949. Later that year he returned to Medford to join his father in the operation of Lindow Pontiac Sales and Service until the business closed in 1975. In May, 1950 Armin married former classmate Catherine “Kitty” Russell and they raised three children. Kitty preceded him in death in 2011 after 61 years of marriage.
