Arden Viegut

Arden E. Viegut, 90, Stratford, passed away with family at his side on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at his home.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Hope Lutheran Church, Edgar, where the family received relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Rev. Scott Miller presided. Burial was in the church cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford.

Arden was born on August 11, 1930, in the Town of Wien, Marathon County, to his parents, Arnold Viegut and Edna (Mueller) Viegut. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He married Norma F. Wussow on September 22, 1956, in Edgar.

As a young man he became employed at Marathon Electric for a number of years. He also farmed in the Town of Wien until retirement in 1990. He then worked for Stratford Co-op for 15 years.

Arden greatly enjoyed playing cards, fishing, growing his garden, woodworking, helping family, and sharing laughs with his many good friends. Arden knew and shared the importance of faith, family, hard work and a sense of humor. He taught us all the importance of staying true to your word.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, and their four children, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. His children are Jim (Candy) Viegut of Edgar and their children, Jamie Viegut (Travis) Grubbs and Nick (Niki) Viegut; Sue (Lyle) Becker of Fenwood and their children, Jon (Mary) Streit, Tash Euclide, Greg (Mandy) Streit, Amber (Dustin) Meyer and Renee (Matt) Preiss; Lori (Brian) Brehmer of Mosinee and their children, Tyler Brehmer, Mitchell Brehmer and Corey (Cali) Brehmer; and Jeff (Lisa) Viegut of Plover and their children, Noah Viegut and Matthew Viegut. He is also survived by two sisters: Everdeen (Albert) Podevels of Colby and Janna Hamann (John Delap) of Wausau, and a brother-in-law, Melvin Woldt of Wausau. In addition, he is survived by multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Edna Viegut; a brother, Orvis Viegut, and three sisters: Grace Kutil, Marilyn Tushinski and LaVerda Woldt, in addition to sister-in-law, Vivian Viegut, and brother-in-law, Louie Kutil.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Hope Lutheran Church, Edgar.

Arden will be truly missed by all, but none more than his loving wife of nearly 65 years.
