Lowell Theodore Pugesek, 81, of Medford passed away Wednesday, Apr. 14 at Our House Senior Living facility.

Lowell was born June 14, 1939 in Chicago, Ill. to Theodore and Annabelle (Marheine) Pugesek. He attended Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Ill., graduating in 1957. Following graduation, Lowell joined the U.S. Navy, taking basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Station. He served as a bosun’s mate on the icebreaker USS Staten Island, which was part of the International Geophysical Year; a multi-national group doing scientific research in Antartica. Lowell later moved to Ogema, to help his mother run Senate Café and hotel. He married Marjorie (Midge) Dahl on Nov. 12, 1966 and they later divorced.

Lowell also attended Taylor County Teacher’s College and continued his education at UW-Stevens Point. Lowell taught school in the Medford School District until his retirement.

Lowell is survived by his son, Troy Pugesek of Medford; daughter-in-law, Robin Pugesek of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Tim Wygant (Jailene Torres) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Justin Pugesek of Tucson, Ariz., Jacob Pugesek and Olivia Pugesek of Marion, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Jariel and Joanelis Rivera and Roselyn Wygant of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and other relatives.

Lowell was preceded in death by his son, Terry Pugesek; sister, Judy Scaccia; and his parents.
