Allan “Al” Frohling
1942-2021
Allan “Al” Frohling, 78, passed peacefully with family by his side Friday, April 9 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, Ill., under hospice care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Allan was born in Melrose Park, Ill. to Albert and Elvera (Meinke) Frohling. He graduated from Marengo High School in Marengo, Ill. and married Karen (Ackman) on Nov. 25, 1966.
Allan and his family lived in Union, Ill. until moving to Medford in 1979. He then moved back to his home town of Union, Ill. with his wife, Karen, in 2012. Throughout his life Allan took pride in everything he did. He was proud to be a farmer, truck driver and town road maintenance superintendent.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents; and one younger brother, Larry.
He is survived by wife, Karen (Ackman) Frohling of 53 years; his son, Michael (Kim) Frohling of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Lori (Dan) Siegler of Prior Lake, Minn., Beth (Randy) Jones and Alaina (Bill) Schellin, both of Prentice; sisters, Mary Ellen (Larry) Wiles, Jean (Max) Wilson; brothers, Don (Judy) Frohling, Wayne (Liz) Frohling; sisterin- law, Mary Frohling; 11 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces; and nephews.
His favorite past times were league-bowling, riding motorcycle, spending time with family and friends, and fishing with his son, Mike. Allan will forever be remembered for his kind, generous, forgiving heart, his funny sense of humor, his beautiful, contagious smile that never seemed to end, and the love he had so big and true for his family.
