1927-2021

Anna Arlene Dubiak, 94 of Stanley, died Friday, Mar. 12, 2021 at Country Terrace in Stanley under the care of Heartland Hospice. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 19 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Vijay Kumar officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery-Huron. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the Church.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1927 at her home in the Town of Colburn to the late Henry and Louise (Quesnell) Hagenson. Arlene grew up in the Huron Area and graduated from Gilman High. She married Joseph Dubiak on Sept. 27, 1944 in Clemens, Mich. After Joe’s discharge from the US Army Air Force they resided in Chicago, Ill. where Arlene worked at Zenith for five years. The couple then returned to the Town of Colburn where they farmed for 53 years while also raising their four children. They retired in 1989 but remained living on the farm.

Arlene loved spending time in the outdoors gardening, tending her many flower beds and bird feeders. When the weather did not permit that, she enjoyed working on jig-saw puzzles and word search books. She and her husband liked taking bus tours and short mystery tours as well. Arlene crocheted a multitude of colorful afghans for family and friends and taught others the art as well. Arlene loved hosting family Christmas get togethers. We always thought we finished off her supply of crème de menthe for after meal grasshoppers but there was always a bottle for us the next time we got together. She and Joe were active in the Western Whirlers Square Dance club. In addition to being busy farming and raising a family she was also the treasurer for the Town of Colburn for 22 years. For all these things and more she will be missed by all of us.

Arlene is survived by her children, Duane (Susan) Dubiak of Chaska, Minn., Richard (Linda) Dubiak of Hartland, Dale (Lou Ann) Dubiak of Stanley and Jolene (Dale) Anderson of Chippewa Falls; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Donna) Hagenson of Stanley; and one sister, Mary Lou Mattes of Thorp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph (2006); her son, Robert; and brothers, Gerald and Robert Hagenson.

A special thanks to the staff of Country Terrace and Heartland Hospice for their care of our mother.

Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family.
