Rickey Koehler

Rickey L. Koehler, age 73, of Abbotsford, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital due to COVID-19. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Rickey was born on Aug. 27, 1947, the son of Edgar and Dorothy (Wragge) Koehler in Pierce, Neb. He graduated from Abbotsford High School. Rickey served in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea from 1966-68. On Feb. 20, 1971, Rickey was united in marriage to Janice Leichtman.

Rickey was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning and sitting in the backyard watching the birds drinking his PBR. Rickey also enjoyed helping during maple syrup season. Most importantly, he cherished his family.

Rickey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice; two children: Glen Koehler of Abbotsford and Carrie (Charles) Peterson of Medford; and two grandchildren: Bronson Peterson and Caitlyn Koehler. He is further survived by his brother, Garry (Connie) Koehler of Marshfield; his sister, Diann (Larry) Empey of Colby; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
