Eugene Graffunder

Eugene w. Graffunder, age 89, of Abbotsford, passed away at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.

A graveside service was held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Gene was born on July 26, 1931, the son of Benny and Lydia (Schauer) Graffunder. He was united in marriage to Ruth Carlson on January 20, 1956. She preceded him in death April 9, 2019. Together they farmed in the town of Holton.

Gene taught himself to play the concertina and played in a band called Gene’s Polkateers then later, Country Varieties. He played for hundreds of wedding and other events over the years. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Geneissurvivedbythreesons:TerryGraffunder of Abbotsford, Jody (Bobbi) Graffunder of Eau Claire and Gene (Kim) Graffunder of Sparta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Leonard and Arlene; his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Sharon Minett; and his grandson, Andy Lindberg.
