Jane Albacker Darnell, 66, of Medford, died on Friday, Sept. 25 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Per her request, there will be no services. Interment of her cremated remains will take place in Pennsylvania.
staying ahead of changing resource policy and law also made her a beacon of knowledge to all around her. As a mentor, she generously leant her time and talent to other forests throughout the eastern US. From timber sales to recreation facility improvements, Jane provided the intellectual organization and leadership to manage multiple resources for the benefit of all.
Away from work, Jane’s passions were books, gardening, local volunteer organizations, and her pets. She was a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists About Climate Change and a lifetime member of Penn State Alumni.
Jane is survived by her brother, Donald (Nancy) Albacker of Warrington, Pa.; niece Karen (Pat) Weiss of State College, Pa.; nephew Lee (Colleen) Albacker of Arlington, Mass. along with grand nephews, Brendan and Nathan Albacker also of Arlington, Mass.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests donations be made in Jane’s name to either the MS Society, Salvation Army, or the Taylor County Humane Society.

Jane was born Mar. 2, 1954 at Waynesburg, Pa., the daughter of Lee and Helen (Allayaud) Albacker. She attended Pennsylvania elementary and high schools. She received her BS in Forest Science from Penn State University. She was previously married and later divorced.
She served her country for 41 years with the US Forest Service, residing in Medford for the past 28 years. Early in her career as a forest planner, Jane recognized the importance of making decisions that were transparent, consistent, well-researched, and thoroughly documented. She wrote many of the significant environmental decisions of the Chequamegon- Nicolet National Forest. Jane’s passion for Paid Obituary 95383
