Edward J. Hoeck

1934-2020

Edward J. Hoeck, of Hartford, age 86 went to be with his Savior on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Funeral services were held at Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St. in Hartford on Wednesday, July 22 at 6 p.m. with Rev. Doug Livingston presiding. Visitation for family and friends was from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Edward’s life has come full circle and will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman.

He was born on June 30, 1934 in Taylor County to parents Julius and Alice (Cichocke) Hoeck. At the age of 17 he was baptized in the North Fork of the cold Jump River in Rusk County by L.J. Crook. He graduated from Hannibal High School and attended one year of business college in Milwaukee. Edward was united in marriage on July 11, 1954 to Ellen Story.

Edward was an owner and operator of a trucking business in Hartford for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting with his family, woodworking and reading, especially the TFC Global Highway News. He also liked to go to old truck and tractor shows.

Edward is survived by two children, Douglas (Brenda) of Hartford and Barbara (Doug) Deppe of Spearfish, SD; eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Jane Thorgerson and Andrea (Ronald) Wry; and also survived by a few in-laws and quite a few outlaws. Edward was preceded in death by his son Jerry; and brothers, Mack, Dick and Danny.
