James J. Hennlich, 88, formerly of Owen, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center, under the tender care of hospice. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester with Father Tim Oudenhoven officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Owen American Legion Post No. 123, Owen-Withee Vets Club and the Lublin American Legion Post No. 547. Family and friends are welcome on Friday, Jan. 17 from 4-7 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

James was born on June 10, 1931, the son of Joseph and Hattie (Boxrucker) Hennlich. He graduated from Dorchester High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Oct. 17, 1971, James was united in marriage to Patricia Feldt. He worked for the Clark County Highway Department for many years. He was a member of the Owen-Withee Vets Club. James was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed camping and playing pool.

James is survived by his wife, Patricia of Owen; two children, Paula (Tim) Baker of Dorchester and Perry Johnson of Duluth, Minn.; five grandchildren, Betsy (Dallas), Jerry, Wesley, Joseph and Christian Baker; five great-grandchildren, Gerald Ivan Baker III, Kylia Nordloff, Brhyer Churkey, Sawyer James Krueger and Ivy Marie Krueger. He is further survived by two sisters, Joan Baker and Janice (Conrad) Diesing; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
