10 Years Ago – 2015 A four-day option is proposed for early education at Cadott, to do the best job possible for the 4K students. Currently, there is one full-time teacher, one substitute and one paraprofessional, but with the new schedule, there would be two full-time teachers and two paraprofessionals, as well as a special education instructor.

20 Years Ago – 2005

30 Years Ago – 1995 This year is like no other for Cadott, as 1995 is its centennial year of incorporation, when the village turns 100, May 7. Cadott previously celebrated the century mark of when it was platted, in 1965.

40 Years Ago – 1985 An asbestos situation in the Lake Holcombe School District has become bad enough it can no longer be ignored, so an engineer is hired to complete an evaluation. Similar tests a couple years ago, revealed below the allowable maximum limit of asbestos, but as the material ages, it can release particles into the air.

50 Years Ago – 1975 Cadott’s Wayne Danielson is chosen to chair the Wisconsin State Board of Agriculture, which supervises the ag department’s 500 employees. He previously served a six-year term on the board, acting as secretary, as appointed by Gov. Pat Lucey.

60 Years Ago – 1965 Cornell is in need of an auxiliary well, if not for health reasons, then to bring the city into a more favorable fire insurance rating, saving the taxpayers a substantial sum. The proposed well, at a cost of $7,500, could be held in standby and produce, in excess, of 200 gallons, per minute.

100 Years Ago – 1925 A judgment is found in favor of Charles Schroeder, Cornell, against Valentine Haas, Estella, in a question of timber cut from Schroeder’s land by Haas. It was discovered after a survey of neighbors, that Haas unwittingly cut 53 trees belonging to Schroeder. Haas offered to pay $14.82 for the trees, but Schroeder valued them at $139.
