Lions staying busy as the weather gets cooler

The Cadott Lions Club started October out, with a fall roadside clean up.

“You never know what treasures you may find,” said Lion Carolyn Wanish. “Some big, some small, one thing for sure, are cigarette butts.”

Years ago, cars and trucks came with ash trays, to dispose of those cigarette butts; not any more, as now, the roadside takes the place of the ashtray.

The Lions also held the Governor’s Night at The Liner, where several awards were given out to well-deserving, hard-working members.

The Vision Committee had a busy month, as they did five vision screenings in the area schools, and those with vision participated in a Trunk-or-Treat.

“It always gives us so much joy to see all the different costumes and what those little ones have to say,” said Wanish.

After that, November started off busy, setting up the Christmas display in the park. There were many volunteers that came to help members put up the boards and some of the lights.

“The following weekend, we were back to the park, to finish putting up more lights,” said Wanish. “We would like to thank all the volunteers for their help, as they say many hands make short work.”

The November meeting was held at Shady Nook, where the club enjoyed a nice buffet, before the meeting got down to business. They also had the annual rose sale.

“I hope getting a beautiful surprise bouquet of roses put a smile on many faces,” said Wanish.

The deer carcass dumpster was also set in the east park. “So, if you happen to be one of the lucky hunters, you can do a one-stop-and-drop your hide in the freezer by the pavilion, and the carcass in the dumpster,” said Wanish, “and you’re on your way.”
