10 Years Ago – 2014 A warning, then tow is suggested as the new policy for Town of Lake Holcombe residents who violate the winter parking ordinance. Previously, multiple warning were issued, with little action taken, but constable Keith Swanson would like to avoid that nightmare.

20 Years Ago – 2004 Kelly Kenealy is appointed as the president of Citizens State Bank in Cadott, succeeding William Sazama. Kenealy has been employed with the organization for 23 years, as teller and secretary.

30 Years Ago – 1994 Cornell is seeking a settlement on losses they’ve incurred from the second well they installed, from FmHA money. The water at that site contains dissolved organic matter, with no solution in sight to clear it up.

40 Years Ago – 1984 J & F Construction is awarded the bid for reinsulating the ceiling at the village hall in Cadott. Work is expected to start in mid-December.

50 Years Ago – 1974 Jeff Carver, a junior at Cornell, receives the state’s top award in the Conservation and Environmental Awareness Speaking Contest, with his speech entitled, A Sky of Death. For his first place finish, Carver earns a $50 savings bond.

60 Years Ago – 1964

70 Years Ago – 1954 The State Hwy. 29 detour claims its first victim, in the form of Joe Ruppert, who was thrown from a tractor, when hit by a car. The public is reminded to be cautious on the detour, which is expected to be in use about a year. 100 Years Ago – 1924 The Lake Holcombe Rebekahs motor to Ladysmith, to be entertained at Willard Lodge 187. Among those enjoying the evening, were Mesdames C. W. Lodge, R. L. Zimmerman, John Cox, Walter Klink, R. H. Friske, Rox Cox, Clinton Dodge Hans Halls, C. A. Kast, C. M. Bickerstaff, Thad Loiselle and R. C. Rodecker, as well as the Misses Ruth Hogan and Helbig, and Dr. R. C. Rodecker and Cy Mayhew.
