Peter Mercier
Peter Mercier, age 74, of rural Owen, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at the Clark County Living and Rehab Center in Owen.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. until the time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home. We encourage those in attendance to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines by sanitizing, wearing a mask (if able) and social distancing. Peter was born on January 18, 1946, in Stanley to Edward and Marion (Cox) Mercier. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Owen and was a 1964 graduate of Owen-Withee High School. Peter attended Northland College for a while and then moved to Milwaukee to work at Briggs and Stratton. He married the former Carol Ann Gay on February 14, 1970, at the First Congregational Church in Owen. The couple resided in Colby where he worked for Packaging Corp. for ten years and then he hauled cattle until his retirement in 2016. He also drove truck for Lee Blasel part time. They moved to rural Owen in 2012.
Peter is survived by his wife, Carol; his children: Lucas (Stacy) Mercier of Colby, Tiffaney Mercier of Greenwood and Brandon Mercier of Owen; grandchildren: Zachery Mercier, Kordelia Geiger and Emily Rose Mercier; brother, Rich (Judy) Mercier of Ashland; and a sister, Jean (Glenn) Gruber of Rosedale, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott Mercier; and siblings: Adeline, Betty, Ruth, Patricia, David, Edwin and Albert.
