Youth retreats sponsored by the Diocese of La Crosse Office of Family Life will be held in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church dining hall 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 6.
The theme of the retreat is “Who Do You Say That I Am?” The November retreat will be for youth in grades 9-12; the December retreat is for grades 7-8.

Veterans Day
Edgar Public Schools celebrated Veterans Day differently this year due to the COVID- 19 pandemic.
Normally, local veterans spent time visiting with elementary school children prior to an all-school assembly. This year, veterans will share their service experiences with elementary school students in Zoom chats online.
COVID count
Edgar Public Schools has reported eight students and staff who are currently confi rmed with COVID-19. As of Nov. 6, they include three in grades PK-5; three in grades 6-8; and one in grades 9-12. There have been 44 cumulative cases during the pandemic.
On campus
Two Edgar students have been awarded academic scholarships to attend Stockton College for the fall 2021 semester.
Austin Dahlke and Brayden Baumgartner, both seniors at Edgar High School, have been awarded the Hilltop Scholarship, a $10,500 per year scholarship.
Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Mo., is a fouryear residential institution in affiliation with the Disciples of Christ church.
Cancellation
Due to the uncertainty regarding COVID-19 and in the interest of protecting supporters, volunteers and the local community, the PCCW of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgar, has canceled the annual PCCW Christmas bazaar, fish fry and raffle. This event was usually held the Friday before Thanksgiving. The PCCW hopes to hold the holiday event in November 2021.
Mental Health Night
The Edgar School District Counseling Team will sponsor a first virtual Community Mental Health Night on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6-7 p.m. The topic will be on “Anxiety” and the presentation will be led by Peaceful Solutions psychotherapist Tricia Gumz. This presentation will help people understand the signs and symptoms of anxiety and treatment options.
The purpose of this community night is to provide parents and families with information regarding mental health. Space is limited. Participants are asked to contact members of the mental health team to reserve a spot. Deer dumpster
The Central Wisconsin Conservation Club Inc. will sponsor a dumpster for the disposal of deer carcass waste (rib cages, heads, legs and fat scrap) during the upcoming deer firearm season. The dumpster will be placed in the Edgar waste site located at the junction of Weinkauf and Willow Rd. There will also be a separate container placed there for unwanted deer hides which will be donated to the Lions Camp for the Blind. The dumpster will be placed there on Friday, Nov. 20, through Tuesday, Dec. 1. This program is being done as a surrounding community service to help to keep the environment cleaner from improperly disposed waste in rural ditches. The club asks people use the dumpster only for deer carcass waste.
No Whitetail Night
The 34th annual Whitetail Night at Edgar Public Schools scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanksgiving Mass
St. Johns School, Edgar, will collect food and household items for the Circle of Joy food pantry in advance of a Thanksgiving Mass scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Giving Tree
The Edgar/Marathon Circle of joy will sponsor a Giving Tree at Nicolet National Bank, Edgar. Decorations will be placed on the tree Friday, Nov. 20, with a child’s age, clothing size and gift suggestions.
Gifts should be wrapped and returned to the bank by Friday, Dec. 11.
