A count of neglecting a child (consequence is bodily harm) was dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes.
Christine M. Poppe, 61, Thorp, pled no contest to theft of movable property less than or equal to $2,500. Sentence was withheld and Poppe was placed on probation for two years on the condition she pay a forfeiture of $1,306.50 and supervision fees as ordered by the DOC; submit to a DNA sample; have no contact with the victims; and undergo counseling as deemed appropriate by probation. Poppe also pled no contest to a second count of theft of movable property less than or equal to $2,500. Sentence was withheld and Poppe was placed on probation for two years, to run concurrent with her probation for the other count. She was ordered to pay a forfeiture of $443 and supervision fees as ordered by the DOC. The conditions of her probation are the same as for the other count. Poppe pled no contest to a count of burglary of a building or dwelling and entered into a deferred prosecution agreement for a period of two years. As terms of the agreement, she must not commit any criminal offenses during the period of the agreement; notify the Taylor County district attorney and clerk of court offi ces of any address change within 10 days; and comply with all of the terms of bond, which continues to remain in effect during the period of the agreement. Upon successful completion of the agreement, the state will move to dismiss the count. Three counts of theft of movable property less than or equal to $2,500, four counts of burglary of a building or dwelling, theft of movable property- special facts and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes.
