Leroy “Roy” W. Doering

A funeral mass for Roy will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Hrudaya Raju Sunkara officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford and also from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the church on Friday. Interment will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford. Pallbearers will be Jim Dougherty, Rick Doering, Sid and Brian Sukow, Kaleb and Grant Anderson.
Roy was born on Oct. 27, 1931 at Tomahawk, the son of Harry G. and Katherine (Bloechl) Doering. He attended Merrill area elementary schools, graduated from Merrill High School and received a business degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minn. His marriage took place on July 11, 1959 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Nancy L. Haan and she preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2007.
After his marriage, he worked in sales with Curtiss Window while residing in Grand Rapids, Mich. Then he worked as sales and marketing manager for Caradco while residing in Auburn, N.Y., Toronto, Canada, Dubuque, Iowa, and later Rantoul, Ill. Then they moved to Medford where Roy was sales and marketing manager for Hurd Millwork until retirement in 1998. In retirement, he delivered pharmaceuticals for the Aspirus Pharmacy. Roy was involved and instrumental in the completion of Black River Golf Course, Holy Rosary Catholic School and the Cedar Addition of Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. He served on the board of directors of Memorial Hospital and Black River Golf Course. He enjoyed their lake home on Lake Holcombe, cabin in Gleason, spending time at Orange Lake in Florida, traveling the world, snowmobiling, golfing, curling and bowling. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.
He is survived by his children, Sue (Terry) Anderson of Medford and Tom (Sue) Doering of Wausau; grandchildren, Kaleb (Monica) and Grant Anderson both of Madison, Madison, Delaney and Riley Doering all of Wausau; great-grandchildren, Teagan and Jaxson Anderson. Also surviving are his siblings, Harry (Joyce) Doering of Chicago, Dorothy Kanitz and Elaine Sukow both of Merrill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; a daughter in infancy; and a brother, Norbert Doering.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to either Hope Hospice of Medford or Holy Rosary Church and School, Medford.
