Local youth do well at Clark Co. Market Lamb Show

The Clark County Youth Market Lamb Show was held on Aug. 8 at Oberholzter’s Dairy Auction Barn in Loyal.

The show was put together because the Clark County Fair was cancelled this year. Seventeen youth from Clark County participated; they were all kids who had planned to show at the fair.

The top 2 in each weight class were as follows: Class #1 (weight 105-115 lbs): Jacob Raatz, Colby, 1st; Anna Kayhardt, Granton, 2nd Class #2 (weight 120-125 lbs): Maddie Meyer, Unity, 1st; Ella Raatz, Colby, 2nd Class #3 (weight 130-140 lbs): Jenelle Ertl, Unity, 1st; Devon Meyer, Unity, 2nd Class #4 (weight 145-164 lbs) Maddie Meyer, Unity, 1st; Mckenzie Meyer, Unity, 2nd The grand champion was Maddie Meyer, and the reserve grand champion was McKenzie Meyer.

Beginning Showmanship: Malori Jakobi, Granton, 1st; Jacob Raatz, Colby 2nd Intermediate Showmanship: Ella Raatz, Colby, 1st; Jenell Ertl, Unity, 2nd Senior Showmanship: Annay Kayhardt, Granton, 1st; Rhiannon Reimer, Granton, 2nd Instead of ribbons class winners won items to use for next year’s sheep projects. The grand champion lamb won an embroidered lawn chair donated by Kurt Kalepp Excavating of Abbotsford.

Each youth participant also received a large water bucket, snacks, shirts, water bottles, water and other miscellaneous items all donated by the following businesses: Vita Plus, Smith Bros. Meats, General Farm Supply, Abby Bank, Thrivent, D& J Hardware Store, Ag Country, Kwik Trip, Spooner Mills, Purina/ProVision Partners, Jerry Micke/Mor-Mick Suffolks, Taylor County Credit Union, Todd and Jess Ertl Family, and River Country Co-op.
