Carol E. Arnett
1934-2020
Carol E. Arnett, 86, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, Sept, 19, 2020 at Aspirus Medford Hospital. A memorial service for Carol will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey with Pastor Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Friday, Sept. 25 from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
Carol was born on Aug. 9, 1934 to William and Myrtle (Craft) Smith in Washburn. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She married Eugene “Gene” W. Arnett on Sept. 3, 1955. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2017. Carol worked at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County as a nurse for many years and later as the ER supervisor until her retirement. She and Gene enjoyed a shared passion for healthcare and both held leadership positions at the hospital. In her spare time she enjoyed curling, in which she was a Senior Women’s National Curling Champion. She also enjoyed bridge and her book club. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Red Hat Society.
Carol is survived by her five children, Denise (David) Thiede, E. Stuart (Kristin) Arnett, Lisa (Gerry) Jiskra, Jon (Amy) Arnett, James (Missy) Arnett; grandchildren, John David, Alyssa, Megan, Paul, Lindsey, Emily, Seth, Annaka, Matthew, Katie, Alex, Christian, and Zak; great-grandchildren, Marshall, Walter, Avery, Beau, Lily, and Milo. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Bill, Cindy, Charla, Becky, and David; and many other family and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene; parents; sister, Lois (Charles) Radtke; and brother, Richard (Karin) Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Carol’s name may be given to Aspirus Medford Foundation.
