and Ashley (Kevin) Karbowski of Milwaukee. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Mason, Finley, Jacob, Kira and Payton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Schmitt in 2017; a sonin- law, Gene Schmitt in 2019; a grandson, Jason Alward in 1986; along with her sister, Alma Skoog. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Mom/Alice’s life at Curtiss Alliance Church on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 2 p.m. We respectfully ask that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, for your sake as well as ours, while in the building. We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and comforting prayers at this sad time.
We would also like to thank all her caregivers at Country Garden’s, Medford, and The Waterford of Wisconsin Rapids, with a special thank you for all the loving care from Heartland Hospice. Alice called you her angels. We greatly appreciate all of your help. We don’t know how we could have done it without all of you.

Alice M. Paul, 93, a former Clark County resident, died on Monday, April 20, at The Waterford in Wisconsin Rapids where she had resided since July of 2017.
Alice was born on July 16, 1926, in the town of Mayville, Clark County, the daughter of the late Fred and Helena (Benzmann) Woempner. She attended the Town of Mayville Elementary School, was a graduate of Abbotsford High School, and was a graduate of Taylor County Normal School of Medford.
She was married on Dec. 27, 1947, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester, to Wilmer “Butts” F. Paul, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2012. After her education, Alice taught elementary school at Park School, town of Hoard, Clark Co., for a period of time before she married. After her marriage, they farmed in the town of Hoard from 1947-1972. She was a waitress at Medo Farms Restaurant in Abbotsford until her retirement. She enjoyed writing letters, gardening, sewing, art drawing, visiting with family and friends, snowshoeing and hiking. She was a past member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester, and its ladies aid.
