Two-vehicle accidents
Stanley H. Carbaugh, 79, Medford, and Jason J. Guralski, 54, Marathon, were involved in an accident on June 30 at 2:35 p.m. on Perkins Street in the town of Medford. According to the accident report, the Guralski vehicle was eastbound on Perkins Street. The Carbaugh vehicle was backing out of the driveway at W4911 Perkins Street when it was struck by the Gurlaski vehicle, which entered the south ditch and struck a tree. The Carbaugh vehicle also came to a stop in the south ditch. Both drivers stated they did not see the other vehicle prior to the accident. Carbaugh and a passenger in the vehicle, Elsie M. Carbaugh, 78, Medford, sustained possible injuries but were not transported for medical treatment. The Carbaugh vehicle sustained disabling damage to the right front corner, right side rear, right rear corner and rear. The Guralski vehicle sustained damage to the front, right front corner, right side front and right side middle.
Michael J. Noland, 22, Gilman, and a vehicle owned by Susan F. Dahm, Gilman, were involved in an accident on July 5 at 6:40 p.m. in the parking lot at Miller Dam, N4664 CTH G in the town of Ford. According to the accident report, the Noland vehicle was backing out of a parking space when it backed into the legally-parked and unoccupied Dahm vehicle, causing minor damage to the left front corner. There was no damage to the Noland vehicle. Noland said he looked while backing up, but did not seen the Dahm vehicle. Looked but did not see by Noland was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.
Wesley C. Catron, 32, Medford, was involved in an accident on June 26 at 8:43 p.m. on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford. According to the accident report, a motorcycle operated by Catron was eastbound on Hwy 64 when a deer ran out of the north ditch and collided with the motorcycle, causing it to tip onto its side. Catron and a passenger on the vehicle, Ashley V. Zettler, 31, Owen, sustained substantial injuries and were transported to Aspirus Medford Hospital for medical treatment. Both were later air lifted to other hospitals. Neither person on the motorcycle were wearing protective equipment. There was damage to the right side middle, right side rear and entire left side of the motorcycle. Catron was issued a citation for operating a motorcycle without a valid license.
Robert J. McCormick, 24, Prentice, was involved in an accident on June 23 at 5:15 p.m. on CTH M in the town of Chelsea. According to the accident report, the McCormick vehicle was westbound on CTH M when it left the roadway and entered the ditch where it struck a driveway embankment. The vehicle became airborne over the embankment and skimmed some trees before coming to a stop in the ditch on the other side of the driveway. McCormick sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Aspirus Medford Hospital for medical treatment. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front, right front corner, right rear corner, rear, left rear corner, left front corner and undercarriage. It was towed from the scene. Running off the road; operating a motor vehicle in an inattentive, careless or erratic manner; and driver’s condition were listed in the report as factors in the accident. McCormick was issued citations for operating while under the influence-second offense and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Tony R. Howard Jr., 17, Owen, was involved in an accident on June 28 at 11:10 p.m. on Elm Avenue in the town of Holway. According to the accident report, the Howard vehicle was westbound on Elm Avenue when the driver swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. Howard lost control of the vehicle and it skidded on the gravel roadway into the north ditch and rolled onto its side. There was damage to the entire left side of the vehicle. Failure to control and swerved or avoided due to wind, slippery surface, motor vehicle or non-motorist in roadway were listed in the report as factors in the accident.
Michael J. Yucuis, 60, Winona, Minn., was involved in an accident on June 30 at 3:42 p.m. in the parking lot at Nestlé Pizza, 940 S. Whelen Ave. in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Yucuis vehicle was backing up and struck a guard rail in the parking lot, damaging the front driver’s side quarter panel.
Lana R. Reed, 49, Land O’Lakes, was involved in an accident on June 30 at 6:25 p.m. on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black. According to the accident report, the Reed vehicle was southbound on Hwy 13 when it left the roadway and entered the ditch. As the vehicle entered the ditch, the front of the vehicle struck in the dirt, causing it to flip end over end before coming to a stop with the driver’s side facing downward. The report stated that Reed adamantly stated she was traveling northbound when she attempted to make a phone call. There were tire tracks leading to the vehicle from the north. There were no tire tracks from the south. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the left side front, left front corner and undercarriage. Operating a motor vehicle in an inattentive, careless or erratic manner and manually operating a hand-held mobile phone by Reed were listed in the report as factors in the accident. She was issued citations for inattentive driving and failure to keep the vehicle under control.
A vehicle owned by Jerry M. Kolve, Lublin, and an unknown vehicle were involved in a hit-and-run accident on June 20 at 2:30 a.m. on CTH F in the village of
Alexander J. Zenner, 30, Medford, and Dale E. Holbrook, 63, Withee, were involved in an accident on July 2 at 4:12 p.m. on CTH O in the town of Holway. According to the accident report, both vehicles were westbound. The Zenner vehicle was towing a trailer carrying an excavator. As the Holbrook vehicle was passing the Zenner vehicle, the trailer became unhitched and flipped, sending the excavator sliding across the roadway and into the south ditch. The driver of the Holbrook vehicle swerved to avoid the trailer and the vehicle entered the south ditch where it struck the excavator. Holbrook sustained possible injuries but was not transported for medical treatment. The Holbrook vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front, left front corner, right front corner and undercarriage.
Lublin. According to the accident report, the Kolve vehicle was legally-parked and unoccupied along CTH F in the village of Lublin when it was sideswiped by an unknown vehicle during the night, causing minor damage to the entire left side.
Charlie E. Little, 84, Westboro, and a vehicle owned by Tammy S. Anderson, Medford, were involved in a hit-and-run accident on July 1 at 8:13 a.m. in a parking lot at 884 Hwy 64 in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Little vehicle was backing up to leave the parking lot when it struck the legally-parked and unoccupied Anderson vehicle. Little stated that he did not know he had hit another vehicle. The Anderson vehicle sustained minor damage to the left side middle. The Little vehicle sustained minor damage to the left rear corner. Unsafe backing by Little was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.
