Use of City-Owned Parking Lot on Whelen Avenue for the Weekly Farmers Market The City has received a request from Rebecca Zuleger, a representative of the Medford Farmers Market, to once again use the City-owned parking lot on Whelen Avenue for the Farmers Market. The Farmers Market would be held on Tuesdays beginning on May 12, 2020 and ending October 20, 2020 from 1 PM to 5:00 PM. Depending on the availability of produce or daylight, the dates/times may be shortened or extended based entirely on seasonal weather.
In addition and depending on restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are several events (one per month) being planned in coordination with the Friends of the Downtown whereby the hours may be extended beyond the 5:00 PM close, but would close no later than 7:00 PM.
Bathroom facilities would be available at the BP Fuel Station, Medford Co-operative Service Station, and Marilyn’s Fire Station.

Mayor Wellner has been in contact with Taylor County Health Officer Patty Krug. Ms. Krug will provide Ms. Zuleger guidelines/restrictions.
Ms. Zuleger informed the Council of the following: (1) A drive-through lane will be available. (2) At this time, arts & craft vendors are prohibited from participating in the Farmers Market.

Election Poll Workers Appreciation
As you are aware, the City Clerk, Office Manager, and poll workers conducted the April 7, 2020 Spring General Election under extreme circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They did so with professionalism and grace. Because of this, the City’s Election ran smoothly. Therefore, Mayor Wellner requested that the City extend its appreciation to the City Clerk, Office Manager, and the poll workers by giving each one a $25.00 Chamber of Commerce gift certificate. The total expenditure would be $350.00 with the monies for the certificates allocated from the General Fund Supplies account (#10-51440-34000).

Board of Review Training -Wisconsin Statute 70.46(4) requires one member of the Board of Review must within two years of the Board’s first “two-hour meeting” attend a training session. 2020 Board of Review material has been ordered. Council members wishing to attend the training should contact the City Clerk.

According to the Employee Handbook, “any leave of absence that is granted will be subject to the conditions imposed by Council and shall not exceed 30 days”. Discussion was held.
