Taylor County Moving for a Cure event canceled for May 15

Raffle drawing will take place, group plans to be back with event in 2021

The Taylor County Moving For a Cure Committee has made the decision to cancel this year’s Taylor County Moving for a Cure event scheduled for May 15 at the Medford City Park.

“With the current status of COVID-19 and lockdown of Wisconsin, it was felt that this was the best decision in protecting those we are trying most to help,” said event committee member Karen Dahlvig in a statement released earlier last week.

The plan is to still assist people going through cancer treatments that apply and qualify for our fundraising stipends.

“Obviously, we know our levels will be sharply declined from year’s past, but our goal is to still assist as many patients as possible.” Dahlvig said.

If you have monies, team or individual, email Carmen Thiede at cthiede@abbybank.com for pick up or delivery of those monies. In addition, those of you that have raffle tickets you’d like to submit for the drawing, mail to Thiede at W6507 Cedar St., Medford, WI 54451 or drop off at K99/WIGM Radio by noon on May 15. The drawing will still occur at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 15. Additional tickets are available to purchase at K99/ WIGM Radio or through their website at https://tcmoving4cure.com/3/adbook. htm The group expressed appreciation to this year’s gold sponsors: Abbyland Foods, Aspirus Hospital & Clinics, Gilman Cheese Corp, K99/WIGM Radio, Lakeside Financial, Medford Lions, Nestlé Pizza, Nicolet National Bank and Sierra Pacific.

“We hope that 2021 returns us together in our efforts,” organizers stated.
