Medford residents had been reported missing since April 11
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has identified two men believed to have been killed in an April 11 traffi c accident in the town of Wilson as brothers Andrew B. Griffin Jr., 23, and Elisha Benjamaine Griffin, 18, both of Medford.
According to the release, on Saturday, April 18 the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash on Old 8 Rd. north of US Hwy 8 in the town of Wilson, north and west of Tomahawk.
The crash was initially believed to have occurred in Oneida County that prompted units from that county to respond. When a trooper from the Wisconsin State Patrol arrived on the scene, he found the crash actually occurred on Hwy 8 near CTH CC in the Lincoln County town of Wilson. Their vehicle had been hidden by snow and wasn’t discovered by a passerby until Saturday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said.
The occupants of the vehicle, later identified as the Griffin brothers, were pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County coroner Paul C. Proulx.
Both men had been reported missing to the Medford Police Department, according to the release.
According to the release, the investigation shows this is a traffic fatality. No other contributing factors are believed to be involved.
Agencies assisting at the scene included Wisconsin State Patrol, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Nokomis Fire Department, Little Rice Fire Department, Oneida County Med 4, and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.
