Jan R. Couillard

1946-2020

Jan Roy Couillard, 74, of Gilman, died on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Gilman Funeral Home after the COVID-19 crisis is over. Jan was born on Feb. 17, 1946 in Jump River, the son of the late George and LuCinda (Shufelt) Couillard. He married Geraldine Dallmann on Jan. 17, 1966 in Ely, Minn.

Jan worked for 10 years for Link Bros., farmed for 22 years, worked for the Taylor County Highway Dept. of 10 years and the last seven for the Village of Gilman. He enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, his famous rides in the car - that mom hated, farming, cutting firewood and spending time with family sometimes.

Jan is survived by his wife, Gerri of Gilman; three children, Sheila Couillard of Gilman, John (Jenny) Couillard of New Richmond and Cheryl (Ken) Baker of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren, Jon, Melissa, Myranda, Melanie, Kayla, Joshua, Mike, Shawnee and Dustin; 14 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Jerry (Cindy) Couillard of Oklahoma, Kaye Joyner of Black River Falls, Joanne (Jene) Everson of Rib Lake, Janice Harris of Aurora, Minn., Linda (Hugo) Scholtze of Babbitt, Minn., Minga (Mike) Cole of Ely, Minn. and Bonnie (Dan) Omundson of Thorp.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Arlene Muth, Mary Tomkowiak and Edna Madlon; and his brothers, Albert, Lloyd, Perry and Addelor.
