Cadott seniors Kendal Krouse and Andrea Roth are nominated to participate in the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award (SAMMY) program. The program recognizes student athletes who are outstanding in sports and academics, and who demonstrate leadership and involvement in the community.

20 Years Ago – 2000

Channel 13 TV personality Bruce King joins the Lake Holcombe Elementary for a celebration of what would have been Theodor Seuss Geisel’s 96th birthday. Known as Dr. Seuss, Geisel authored whimsical books for children.

30 Years Ago – 1990 Edgar Phelps, 79, is presented a trophy for winning the Cadott Chamber of Commerce Yellow River Walleye Contest. To win the contest, Phelps caught a 10-pound, 4 ounce walleye, that was 30 inches long.

40 Years Ago – 1980

The Cornell Police Department is investigating the theft of a three cases of oil valued at $75, which were taken from the Cornell Auto Stop. Manager Katherine Meistad says the padlock on a storage building was pried open and the items were found missing.

50 Years Ago – 1970

Cadott reaches a record high amount for collecting during the village-wide Heart Fund Campaign, receiving more than $250 from businesses. The funds will then be donated to the American Heart Association for research.

60 Years Ago – 1960

Fran Johnson receives the Best Speech Award at Dale Carnegie courses. The adult classes are sponsored by the Cornell Lions Club.

100 Years Ago – 1920

The Methodist Church eliminates the drastic provisions of its Book of Discipline, which forbids dancing, playing games of chance, and attending theaters, horse races and circuses. Instead, the church admonishes members to be thoughtful in their choice of activities, avoiding pastimes of ill repute.
