St. Mary’s School, Marathon, has released its honor roll for the second quarter of the 2019-20 school year.

Honors

Grade 6: Samuel Altenhofen, Martin Gruetzmacher, Mylee Haehlke, Luke Hoenisch, Leah Schulz, Taylor Schulz, Spencer Seubert, Blake Sternberg.

Grade 7: Morgan Gore, Katrherine Paul, Emma Scheiuderer, Alyssa Stowell.

Grade 8: Kaitlym Annis, Nathan Huebsch, Christian Pintor.

High honors

Grade 6: Teresa Chesek, Anika Kolka.

Grade 7: Katie LeBlanc, Kiley Mader, Cody Radtke, Cayden Sapinski.

Grade 8: Ethan Hackel, Marissa Kaiser, Lauren Karlen, Madison Lang, Payton Lawrence, Lena Putnam, Cassidy Seubert.

Bee conference

The Central Wisconsin/Marathon County Beekeepers Association will hold an annual conference Saturday, March 14, in the Health Sciences Center at Northcentral Technical College, Wausau.

Topics at the conference will be hive maintenance, disease and pest control, honeybee ge- netics and queen rearing.

Book club

The Marathon Book Club will discuss “Too Much Happiness” by Alice Munro at the Marathon Branch Public Library Monday, March 9, 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

T-Ball registration

Children four years old through first grade are invited to sign up for Marathon TBall. Practices and games will be held during the month of June only. Practices are held on Monday and Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at Marathon Area Elementary School and games will be played Friday evenings at Veterans Park, Marathon. Siblings will automatically be placed on the same team.

Pro-Life dinner

A Pro-Life chili dinner and raffle will be held Sunday, March 8, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, town of Cassel. Matching funds will be provided by Catholic Financial Life, Wausau.

Spring raffle

The Rib Falls Lions Club will host a spring raffle Sunday, April 19, at Don’s Bar, Rib Falls. Soda, beer and lunch will be provided. The event starts at 1 p.m. A drawing is at 3 p.m.

Solo-ensembles

Marathon High School will host solo-ensemble on Tuesday, March 17. On this day high school students will not report to school unless they are taking part in the music competition. All other students in the district will have a normal school day.

Buses will run and transport students at St. Mary’s School, Marathon Area Elementary School and Marathon Venture Academy.

Military supper

A military appreciation supper will be hosted by the Wien Wildcats 4-H Club at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the Wien Town Hall. Current and former service members are invited. RSVP by Wednesday, March 4, by calling 715-897-5354.

Rib Falls HCE

The Rib Falls HCE met Feb. 12 at the home of Carol Uekert. Desert and refreshments were served. The Pledge of Allegiance and Creed 1 was recited. The song sung was “America The Beautiful.”

Roll call was taken with the question ”Was there a special Valentine that you gave someone or one that you received?”

There were six members present, two members absent and county president Linda Krenz was a guest.

A member who shared some family Valentine cards that were 100 years old.

The members wore something red and brought a small Valentine gift for exchanging.

The secretary’s report was approved as read. The treasurer’s report was approved as read. Pennies for Friendship were collected.

Updates were done on program booklets for the year. County Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 7. Learning Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Linda Krenz has materials for Leader Lessons. The birthday song was sung to Judy Baeseman, who opened her gift from her Secret Pal. The hostess prize was won by Donna Kaldunski after playing the Right and Left game.

The next meeting is set for Wednesday, March 11, at the home of Deb Hilmershausen. Topic will be “Who Gets Grandma’s Orange Pie Plate.”

Valentine bingo was played with all receiving prizes.
