Redmen get rolled over by Loggers

The Phillips Loggers limited Rib Lake to just five field goals and easily maintained their two-game lead in the Marawood North girls basketball standings Thursday with a 53-12 win over the Lady Redmen.
The Loggers jumped out to a 31-4 halftime lead and got 23 points from their allconference candidate Jada Eggebrecht in the win.
“Phillips plays fast and we had trouble containing that,” Rib Lake head coach Mike Wudi said. “Their press was effective early on in forcing turnovers and easy baskets. Their outside shooters were on the mark and we did not do a great job of closing out and containing them. There’s a reason they are one of the top teams in the Marawood North this year.”
Eggebrecht scored 15 of her points in the first half, but she wasn’t alone in doing damage. Rachel Callow hit a couple of 3-point shots and scored eight points in the half.
All Rib Lake was able to muster was two scores from Savana Radtke. The senior added another bucket in the second half and finished with team highs of six points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Redmen, who are 1-11 in Marawood play.
Senja Koch scored her first points of the year on a second-half basket and Emily Rodman also hit a shot from the field. Jolee Gehrke and Tiara Kestler both added a free throw as the Redmen were outscored 22-8 in the half.
Rib Lake was five of 23 overall from the field with all but two of those being twopoint attempts. Molly Heiser grabbed six rebounds, while Rebekah Strobach had four and Nellie Hopkins had three. Hopkins and Reagan Reinhardt each had an assist. Reinhardt and Heiser each had a steal.
Callow finished with 12 points for the Loggers. At 10-2 in Marawood play, the Loggers hold a two-game lead in the North Division over defending champion and 8-4 Prentice with four games left.
Rib Lake has a difficult matchup Friday at Newman Catholic, who leads the Marawood South at 11-1, 15-3. The Redmen go to Athens Tuesday, who beat them 46-26 in their first meeting of the season on Dec. 13.
