Karen A. Hamrick Karen A. Hamrick

1945-2020

After a long and arduous journey to everlasting peace, Karen Ada Hamrick passed away in the early hours of Jan. 12, 2020, on her 75th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff. Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service will be a luncheon and celebration of life at the funeral home. The family would enjoy hearing from those who wish to share a story or memory. Please feel free to wear purple if possible, as it was Karen’s favorite color. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to your favorite charity in her memory.

Karen was born to Clifford and Gertrude Naumann on Jan. 12, 1945, in Medford. She often shared fond memories of her childhood, spent with the neighborhood children and her older brother, Dean. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron Hamrick, in 1962. They moved to the Minocqua area, where they were blessed with three children and 47 years of marriage until Ron’s passing in 2009. She found a true second family made up of owners, coworkers, customers and friends while employed at Mama’s Supper Club for almost three decades. Karen will always be remembered for her vibrant smile and hearty laugh heard across the dining room and her ability to make everyone around her feel so happy and special. In her spare time, outside of work and raising her children, she enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, reading, watching Westerns and above all, playing cards with “the girls”. Karen was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend and she will be deeply missed by her family and the countless hearts and souls she has touched over the years.

Karen is survived by her son, Jeff Hamrick (Mickey Joy); her daughters, Kim Hamrick (Chuck Pfeil) and Nekole Hamrick (Sean Maloney); her brother, Dean Naumann; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Gertrude Naumann; her husband, Ron Hamrick; and her father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Ingrid Hamrick.

The family would like to thank the staff and many caregivers at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Howard Young Medical Center, Avanti Health and Rehabilitation Center and Ascension Hospice. A special heartfelt thank you goes out to Karen’s private caregivers and close friends for all of their love, kindness and support.
