State legislators announce listening sessions

Senator Jesse James (R–Thorp) and Representative Karen Hurd (R-Withee) will host a series of joint listening sessions across the 69th Assembly District, which is also part of the 23rd Senate District, as the legislature prepares for the 2025–27 biennial budget.

Constituents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share their input directly with their elected officials.

On April 21, James and Hurd will be at the Neillsville American Legion Post 73, 6 Boon Boulevard, Neillsville, from 10 to 11 a.m. They will then travel to the Loyal Public Library, 214 N. Main St., Loyal, for a listening session from noon to 1 p.m. Their last session of the day will take place at the Withee Public Library, 511 Division St., Withee, from 2-3 p.m.

Hurd’s office hours In addition, Hurd will host in-district office hours on Monday, April 14, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Thorpedo Family Restaurant in Thorp. These meetings allow constituents to meet one-on-one or in family groups to discuss issues important to them. Residents of the 69th Assembly District who would like to meet with the representative during these office hours are asked to contact her Capitol office at 608-237-9169 to schedule a 10-minute appointment. Appointments are first-come, first-served.

“After the great feedback from constituents in Loyal, Athens, and Medford earlier this year, I look forward to more great conversations in Thorp,” said Hurd. “Hearing directly from the people I represent allows me to be a more effective advocate on their behalf.”

Additional office hours are being planned around the district. Details will be announced on Hurd’s social media pages and in her weekly e-update once they are finalized. To sign up for her e-update, you can visit www.rephurd. com.
